Happy Halloween!
If it wasn’t for Remi, Ron and I would have had a peaceful morning. Remi had Ron up at 4:30 am for a pee break and then again at 6:30 am. At that point Ron tied the pups outside and gave them some breakfast. Ron and I enjoyed a nice relaxing cup of coffee and watched a haunted Halloween special on the TV (we are happy to have cable). We were feeling pretty pleased because the pups were quiet and we were having such a nice morning. That all changed when Ron looked outside and discovered why the dogs were so quiet. They were happily digging holes at this beautiful campground we were at. There was dirt all over our cement pad. They promptly went back inside the kennel in the truck, and I headed outside to sweep away all the evidence.
Ron and I headed to Meryl and Ron Sr’s house for a yummy waffle breakfast. For as long as I have known Ron I have always loved his dad’s homemade waffles. The kids rushed to see us when we arrived and told us about all the fun they had. We put the pups in his parent’s side yard and we enjoyed some family time. The kids were just a little bit excited that it was Halloween and they loved trying on their costumes and giving us a little fashion show.
Ron and his dad and I went to Tommy Bahama for lunch and a bit of shopping. Meryl made cookies with the kids and made them a yummy lunch at the house. Tommy Bahama in Palm Desert has been a favourite lunch spot for Ron and I since his parent’s moved here. It was nice to enjoy lunch with the two Rougeaux men.
We arrived home and headed to the pool with the kids. Their energy amazes me and they loved showing off all their swimming skills. Wyatt was especially proud to show his grandparents how well he is swimming now. Ariel and Wyatt had a fun afternoon of splashing and playing in the pool with Ron and their Grandma.
The dogs provided us with some fun again today. The side yard at Ron’s parent’s house has terraced concrete features. Well apparently our crazy pups found a way to jump onto these different terraces and were almost at the top of their fence and almost escaped. They also discovered Meryl’s flower pot and made a bit of a mess and Remi chewed off a button on their outside chair cushions. Meryl was so patient and a good sport about all the mischief the dogs got into, but needless to say they went for a time out.
After a fun afternoon of swimming, Ariel and Wyatt carved pumpkins with Grandma. I am so thankful that we are able to do our Halloween traditions while on the road. We enjoyed pizza for dinner and all headed to our campground for some trick or treating. The campers at our campground made the night magical for Ariel and Wyatt and all the other little kids that were there to trick or treat. There were so many Halloween lights and decorations and so many campers were handing out candy. Ariel and Wyatt said that it was their best Halloween ever and Ron and I really enjoyed it too. I am also happy that Ron’s mom and dad got to share this experience with Ariel and Wyatt. The campground felt enchanted on this spooky night.
We had a wonderful visit with Ron Sr and Meryl and we are so thankful for their loving hospitality. They did not even complain when we took over their washer and dryer for two days!
Good night again from California!
Grandma had a fun time with the kiddos. The golf cart ride was especially fun with Ariel and Wyatt taking turns steering.
So fun to see all of you.
