Travel Day: Puppy Antics & Oklahoma

“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”

Mark Twain

Our day started with a big victory by Remi in his game against Ron. Not only was he up several times to pee last night, but he also chewed up his training collar.  We have been using it to help us with his naughty barking behaviour and today he was able to get it off and chew it. I could almost see the look of satisfaction on his little face when Ron saw what was happening. We have to do a little duck tape repair work but I think the collar is salvageable. He is definitely keeping Ron on his toes.

The other day Remi pulled out one of the wedges we place behind our RV tires. Ron was so frustrated at this point his only reply was “let us roll away!”  I am careful not to laugh out loud, but their relationship is becoming so funny. When Maggie was a puppy, Ron was away at work a lot of the time so he never dealt with all the naughty puppy behaviour. Well, he is getting his full dose now!

Today, we made our way to Oklahoma. I had the songs from the musical in my head as we crossed the state line. It was so nice to check into our campground at lunch time so that we could get settled and the kids could finish up all their school work. Ron had a busy afternoon of real estate work but I know he enjoyed it.

Maggie must have decided she was being a bit too chill lately because today she planned her big escape. Since our campsite is right beside the fenced K9 park, we let the pups play there while we set up camp. We were not concerned because we could see them and they could see us. However this was not good enough for Maggie. She searched along the bottom of the fence and found a weak point, pushed her way through and came running to see us. It would seem that both our pups are keeping us busy today.

Thankfully this afternoon they both slept in the warm Oklahoma sun on our campsite patio. If you ever get the chance to get a patio and deck site we recommend it. It’s so nice for us and the dogs to get up and off the ground sometimes while we relax around the campsite. It also creates a lot less dirt to sweep up and I’m always thankful for that.

This evening, Ron and I relaxed and watched the Elvis Presley movie “Blue Hawaii”. I believe this is the first Elvis Presley movie that I have actually watched. You could tell that it was from the 1960’s based on some of the references and the gender roles portrayed in the movie but we really enjoyed it. I think there will be a few more Elvis movies in our future—maybe along this trip.

Goodnight from Oklahoma!
