Madeira Beach Day

It was a nice morning in the RV with coffee and planning out this last part of our trip on Google Maps. We cancelled our camping sites and rebooked them for the adjusted dates. Due to the time of year one of the KOAs was closed so we decided to check out other private campgrounds. We like the KOA campgrounds but we realize that we should have also looked at other private campgrounds too because sometimes they are closer to the National Parks and some are a bit nicer too. I think we got all caught up in the KOA reward points and so just looked at KOA sites.

Now we have a couple nights at campgrounds that aren’t KOA coming up and we are excited about our new schedule. Our trip is going to take a bit longer than planned,  but it will be worth it.

Campsite planning and school work

After that, it was time for the beach. We spent the afternoon on Madeira Beach and the kids did all their school activities on the beach too. Renting two chairs and an umbrella helped with all the school work and made for a relaxing afternoon. We were smart and packed a picnic lunch this time too.

All the washed up jellyfish and the ones swimming in the water amazed the kids. Despite telling Ariel and Wyatt to stay far away from them, one jelly fish brushed up against Ariel’s hand. She was not happy and came screaming from the water.  Her hand hurt a bit, but I also think she was just scared at the idea that it touched her. After some snuggles, she felt better and continued to play.

Ron was having fun looking at all the sea creatures in the water and bringing them ashore to show me. Some finds were interesting and some just gross looking like the sea cucumber he found.  The seagulls were fun to watch as they ran around screaming at each other and chasing each other around. Some were quite the little bullies on the beach. Ariel and Wyatt loved to chase them.

After a full afternoon on the beach we came back to camp. While I made dinner, Ron took Ariel and Wyatt to the pool. They wanted just a bit more swim time and a chance to rinse off all the sand. Tonight we had a cozy family night and snuggled and watched the Worst Witch on Netflix—one of the kiddos new favourite series and just in time for Halloween.  After that, we called it an early night. I think the sun and sand wore us all out.

Good night from Saint Petersburg!
