Almost Ready to Roll

The day of departure is less than a week away.  We’ve loaded our 27-foot Winnebago up with supplies, and the kids are anxious to pack their suitcases.

Stocking up on food is one of our last steps, and we had a fun afternoon of making special treats for our trip. My parents live in Canada and aren’t able to cross the border into the USA yet. Covid has meant we have to rely on video chats to stay connected. Today, Nana and GranGran (that’s what the kids call my dad since pronouncing Grandad was too tough as toddlers) made Nana’s famous Chocolate Chip cookies together over FaceTime.  Special moments like this make trip prep a lot more fun and meaningful for all of us.  The kids and I also plan to prepare some meals to freeze so we can enjoy them after one of our long days of travel.

Ron is busy finishing up some of his real estate deals too. Thankfully with his line of work he can take it on the road.  He has some great agents who work with him here to help him over the next 7 weeks.

The excitement is building here. I am finding that I am spending more and more nights awake at night running over my trip checklist.  It is currently 3:25 am as I am typing up this entry.  I see a nap in my future later today!

The packing! So much to think about with school and being away for so long.
